Brisbane Marathon Festival 2017 will be celebrating 26 years on Sunday 6 August 2017. Runners and walkers of all abilities from over 35 countries across the globe will descend on the streets of the Brisbane CBD. Participants will enjoy full closure of major city streets to truly experience Queensland’s capital city marathon event.
The iconic event honouring the great Robert De Castella’s gold medal Brisbane Commonwealth Games achievement in 1982 will see over 5000 participants claim the streets of Brisbane city once again in 2017.
The 2017 event offers spectacular scenery, participants in the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km events will have the opportunity to run through major Brisbane CBD streets. The mostly flat course for 2017 is spectator friendly and offers family, friends and onlookers the ideal opportunity to urge on participants to the finish line.
A slight course modification in 2017 sees participants covering three of Brisbane’s iconic CBD linked bridges including, Goodwill, Victoria as well as the iconic Story Bridge. The course has been labelled the city of bridges, offering spectacular vantage points for scenic cityscape and riverfront views.
The 2017 course is AIMS certified and will again offer participants the opportunity to qualify for major marathon events across the world including; Boston Marathon, New York Marathon and Berlin Marathon.
