We hope you loved the 25th year!
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Brisbane Marathon Festival, held on Sunday 7 August 2016. A record crowd assembled on the start line for a the largest Brisbane Marathon field in 25 years. It was also fantastic to witness a record breaking number of females participate in 2016 making up over 30% of marathon finishers as well as a huge international contingent making their way from all corners of the globe.
Together with your registration, we have helped raise over $500,000 for charities across Australia since 1992. We hope you enjoyed the event and are looking forward to joining us again on Sunday 6 August 2017.
A day for the record books
Over 800 people registered to participate in the special 25th anniversary Brisbane Marathon for another year of growth at Queensland’s second largest certified marathon event. Over 270 international athletes from over 30 nations travelled to experience the beautiful river city with every state and territory in Australia represented.
Congratulations to Klarie McIntyre from Victoria and local Marita Eisler who won the flagship event, the intraining Brisbane Marathon. McIntyre had a close matched battle with past champion and perenial podium athlete, Clay Dawson by surging away just before 30km to win in a fantastic time of 2:35:27. Marita Eisler moves up from second place in 2015 to take out the 25th anniversary event in 2:57:31 in a tough fought battle with Kerri Hodge and 2015 champion from the Gold Coast, Sally Matsubara.
