How long do I have to complete the course?

Participants will have approximately 6hrs to complete the half and full marathon events. Official event timing ends at 12.30pm.

Note there are minimum time requirements for certain locations on course. All participants will be required to reach designated check points as below. Anyone who is unable to reach a checkpoint will be diverted off the roadway and may be unable to complete the event.

  • Main Street, Kangaroo Point (5km): After 7:30am participants will be diverted off roadway
  • Holman Street, Kangaroo Point (6km) 8:00am participants will be diverted off roadway
  • Lower River Terrace, South Brisbane (30km) 11:00am participants will be diverted off roadway
  • Jane Street  (between Buchanan Street and Montague Road) (35km) 11:15am participants will be diverted off roadway
  • Hill End Terrace, West End (36.5km) 11:30am participants will be diverted off roadway
  • Riverside Drive, West End (39km): 12:00pm  participants will be diverted off roadway
  • Finish line, Gardens Point Road (Brisbane CBD) (42.2km): 12:30pm course closure.

Finish times recorded outside of course closure of 12.30pm may not receive an official result and finish line may not be accessible.

Are there personal drinks allowed on course?

All marathon and half marathon participants will have the opportunity to access all water stations with their own personal ‘special needs drinks’. Although not compulsory, due to the nature of the distance, we invite you to utilise this service.

If you wish to have your own personal drinks placed on course by our Brisbane Marathon Festival team, please clearly mark your drinks and place in the special need boxes at race pack collection

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?

Competitors will only be allowed to transfer their entry to another participant or distance to another event at McDonald’s Brisbane Marathon Festival 2019.

Transfers to another person can be done at race pack collection.  Please bring confirmation email, collect bib and then bring it to late entries for transfer.

Transfers of distance and person will be subject to availability of races.

A $10 administration fee is applicable to any changes made to an entry including transfer of distance or participant.

Can I transfer my distance?

Competitors will only be allowed to transfer their entry to another participant or change their entry to another event at McDonald’s Brisbane Marathon Festival 2019

You can transfer to another distance by emailing [email protected] up until 5pm Friday 26th April 2019.  After this time transfers of distances can be done at race pack collection.  Please bring confirmation email, collect bib and then bring it to late entries for transfer.

What is in the race pack?

Each event has been allocated specific participant and finisher awards. Please click here to view what you receive as part of your registration.

Collecting race pack for another person

Competitors are recommended to collect their own race packs. If you are collecting for a team or on behalf of another person, please ensure you have written permission or confirmation email.

Will you post out my race pack?

In 2019, race pack mail outs will be possible for a $10 postage fee. During the registration process please select ‘bib mailed to me’. This will be offered up to 4 weeks prior to the event.  Your bib will be mailed to the address you input into the registration system.  To collect your race day merchandise please come to the information tent after your event at the event precinct on race day.  Merchandise will need to be collected at the event only, no merchandise will be mailed out after race day.

Tax invoices

Your tax invoice is sent with your confirmation email when you enter. If you have not received a confirmation email, it is likely that your email address supplied is incorrect. Please contact us and we will resend your confirmation email.

Confirmation emails

You will receive an automated confirmation of your entry from our registration partner Active Network upon successfully registering.

I have not yet received a confirmation email what do I do?

You may have entered your email address incorrectly or the automated confirmation may have been filtered to your junk mail. When collecting your race pack, please bring with you personal identification so we can issue you with your race pack.

Cancellations

The following refund fees are applicable for cancellations, depending on when the request is received.

  • Refund of 75% up to 5pm Wednesday 20 March 2019
  • Refund of 50% up to 5pm Wednesday 17 April 2019
  • Refund of 25% up to 5pm Wednesday 15 May 2019
  • No Refunds after Wednesday 15 May 2019

Registration fees

Entry fees are on a tiered format. There will be four entry fee levels available for each event. Each of these entry fees will be calculated based on the date of entry. Click here to view a current registration fees.

Race rules

Running with headphones
Running with headphones is not recommended, however we do allow the use of these whilst participating. If you choose to wear headphones, please ensure the volume is at a reasonable level so that you are able to hear instruction from course officials. Failure to follow instruction on course will result in automatic disqualification.

Can I run with a pram?
Yes, you may run with a pram. However, we ask if you can please start at the back of the race to ensure safety for your child as well as competitors.

Running in the correct event
Please ensure you participate in the event which you are registered. Failure to start and finish in the event you are registered may result in disqualification.

AIMS Certification

We are proud members of AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) course certification. Rest assured the Brisbane Marathon Festival events follow strict guidelines to ensure the distance you are completing is accurately measured. Brisbane Marathon Festival events provide the ideal opportunity to set a personal best or recording a qualifying time for the major marathons around the world.

What date determines the competitors age category?

The age group determination is taken from the competitors age on race day.

Electronic timing

Brisbane Marathon Festival events will utilise Chronotrack electronic timing. Your personal race time (or net time) will be recorded as you cross the timing mats on the start line and will finish when you cross the finish line mats at the end.

Note: Your official time for category placings is based on your gun time and does not take into account your net time.

Race Packs

Participants will be allowed to collect their race packs with ID or confirmation emails only. If you are collecting for a team or on behalf of another person, please ensure you have written permission or confirmation emails. Click here to see race pack collection details.

Weather in Brisbane?

Weather conditions are generally ideal for running with temperatures in the morning at 7 degrees and warming up to 22 degrees celsius during the day. Generally a low chance of rainfall. For more weather statistics click here.

Pace groups

Achieve your goal at the McDonald’s Brisbane Marathon Festival with dedicated and experienced pace groups for the general public. Pace groups will be available for marathon and half marathon events only. Please check each event to obtain information on what pace will help you reach your goal.

Balloon colours will match your bib colour:

Brisbane Marathon = Red

Pedder’s Half Marathon = Yellow

 

 

Baggage tent

Participants will be able to leave their personal items in the “baggage tent” while running. All participants will receive a special tear off luggage tag on race numbers. We ask you tear off this tag and attach to your belongings before you drop your bag off. We recommend you do not leave valuables
