Congratulations to Sydneysider Clayton Mace who was drawn at random to win the Mizuno Runner’s Prize Pack. Clayton took up running after his wife had baby #2 and has lost 13kg in the process. The McDonald’s Brisbane Marathon will be his first attempt at the blue ribbon event.

More than 50 people shared their reason for running with us as part of the competition. Many of those stories were too good not to mention. Among them were first time half and full marathon runners, return athletes determined to achieve a personal best, lots of birthday runners and visitors to Australia eager to experience the River City for the first time (and who can blame them?). Stay tuned to the Facebook events page for up-to-the minute event information, chances to win prizes and have your FAQs answered. Here’s a few of the reasons why people are running this year’s event.

“I have been running Brisbane Marathon since the very first run in 1992, missing just a few when couldn’t take part because of injuries. ‪Lovely course, nice and cool weather, great organisation and close to home. I’m training very hard to have yet another PB in Brisbane, like in 2017. Brisbane Marathon Festival is my favourite long distance event” – Andrzej Andrew Strzemieńczyk-Gołkowski

“This is my first attempt at a Marathon, for two reasons. To give myself the hardest physical challenge I’ve ever set myself, and for my dear-departed friend Ted (RIP).” – Stephen Thompson

Sept 2016 weighed 135.5kg and did no exercise. Serious diet and lifestyle change was needed. Did first 8km fun run in June 2017 and have now completed 5 half marathons. Relocating from KL after 22.5 years back home to Brissie so what a way to say “I’m back” than doing the Brissie Half Marathon in front of family and friends.” – Robert Jamieson

Coming all the way from Munich, Germany! We set a goal to run a Marathon on each Continent on Planet Earth, the obvious choice for Australia is to run the Brisbane Marathon!!!!” – Kai Gutzeit

Mizuno Australia is giving McDonald’s Brisbane Marathon Festival runners another chance to win a new pair of shoes. Sign up to their newsletter at this link before July 31 and you’ll be straight in the draw to win this prize valued at $200. The winner will be presented with their price during race weekend.
